Water Flow Detectors / Flow Based Leak Detection

A water flow detector or flow based water leak detection and automatic shut-off system works by monitoring both the volume and amount of time water moving through pipes. They use a water flow sensor or flow meter to compare water volumes against set thresholds. When abnormal flow is detected, usually due to a burst or faulty pipe, the valve automatically closes, shutting off the water and therefore minimising the extent of the damage. Systems also trigger an alarm or notification to alert users or a central Building Management System to the issue.
